EXCLUSIVE: James Wright aims to show versatility via second EP

With the upcoming release of his second EP, James Wright is out to prove that his music isn’t all about wearing tuxedos and slick back hair.

In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, the Prince of Kapuso Teleserye theme songs shared how he challenged himself for his EP ‘Just Wright.’

James said, “It’s very different kasi from the old album, and I think the goal with this album was to show na may diversity tayo bilang artist and bilang James Wright. We made our best to show na we can put out more things. Hindi lang puro teleserye theme songs, hindi lang puro love songs, pampakilig.”

“May medyo Pop, may pangsayaw, and so for this album, it’s sort of like a refresher kasi ‘yung gusto namin is parang ma-refresh lahat, parang good vibes lang eh. Hindi naman puro senti, hindi naman puro masaya. Mixed talaga, and that’s the ambition with this album, parang to show na [there’s] diversity talaga as an artist,” he further explained.

James hopes to give people a different impression of who he really is as an artist and as well as an individual. He claims the genre and theme song of ‘Just Wright’ is something he has been wanting to do for the longest time. He feels blessed that when GMA Network and GMA Records came together, they all agreed to pursue and support this project.

He recalled, “Thankfully, when we had that big meeting, everyone said, ‘Sige, we’re excited for this project’ and full hands on board. Very excited kami, and yes, parang rebirth siya ni James Wright because we want to sort of show him na ‘yun nga, like what I said, we just wanna show the people na hindi puro tuxedos and slick back hair ang kaya ni James Wright.”

James’ second EP will be launched on January 30 in CDs and digital formats. It carries 'My Destiny,' the theme song of the Kapuso remake of My Love From the Star.
