5 Tips on How to Get Gorgeous and Glowing Tan

By Felix Ilaya

Who doesn't love a tan? It makes your skin look warm and glowy, plus it's also a subtle flex which says “I just got back from a beach vacay.”

However, tanning the wrong way might make the skin look burnt, gray, or even ashy, like that sad lechon left to sit on the fire for too long.

Fortunately, celebrity makeup artist Rodolfo Sitchon, who rocks a flawless tan himself, shared with us a few tips on how to get that gorgeous golden tan!

  • The right choice of sunscreen

For morenas, Sitchon suggests using watery spray-on sunscreens instead of lotions. Creamy sunblocks tend to leave a white cast on brown skin giving it a paler appearance. Meanwhile, water-based sunscreens are white cast-free, plus, they don't feel sticky on the skin.

  • Tanning oil is a must

Tanning oils work by attracting the sun's UV rays on the skin thus making the tanning process even faster. For those who want that quick and easy bronzed look, tanning oil is the key.

  • Maximize your exposure

For most of us, a beach trip only lasts for just one weekend then we hurry home to get back to our jobs or studies. During our brief vacay, Sitchon recommends maximizing our sun exposure by basking in the sun every chance we get. Get a tanning head start when walking from the beach house to the seashore. Shirts are a definite no-no for that even tan.

  • Strictly no swimming pools

Chlorine found in swimming pools dry out the skin which makes it look gray and flaky. To cool off, take a dip at the beach instead as the minerals in sea salt have excellent properties that can enhance your tan.

  • Layer on the oil

After getting the desired tan, Sitchon applies a layer of body oil to prevent the skin from drying out at flaking.

Go forth and get tan now that you know how to get that gorgeous golden look!
