Rocco Nacino with the PH Navy

Kapuso actor Rocco Nacino, a navy reservist, recently participated in a tree-planting initiative attended by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and other personalities. Take a look at his photos here:

With the recent storms and calamities hitting the country, one can understand the need to take care of the environment to avoid other disasters such as flooding, among many others.

That's why Rocco Nacino, together with the other Philippine Navy reservists and ambassadors like him, joined in the tree planting project with the theme “Buhayin ang Pangangalaga sa Kalikasan.”.

The event is attended by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and coincides with his birthday.

According to a Facebook post by the Philippine Navy, the Navy joined in the simultaneous bamboo and tree planting activity held on September 13 in San Mateo, Rizal which “aims to reduce high volumes of methane in the former landfill by planting “Kawayan Tinik.”

In a separate post, actor Jason Abalos said that the One Million Trees Project Ph is his and his wife, Vickie Rushton-Abalos' advocacy to take care of the environment for the next generation.

Aside from Rocco, other Philippine Navy reservists and ambassadors who attended were actor PO2 John Carlo “JC” Tiuseco, and retired professional basketball player PO3 Vince Hizon. They were also joined by Basic Citizen Military Course trainees, former beauty queen Deborah Jelyna Abian; sportscaster Patricia Hizon; Congressman Onyx Crisologo; and actor Kyle Velino.

According to the Naval Reserve Public Affairs Unit (NRPAU), the public affairs arm of the Naval Reserve Command, the participation of the Philippine Navy reservists and ambassadors fulfilled the objective of individuals “taking the responsibility of taking care of nature,” adding that this will ensure that future generations will see the beauty of nature.

“As Reserve Forces, the Navy Ambassadors' and Reservists' presence was one way of fulfilling their mission to assist in socio-economic development and helping the government in nation-building,” it added.

They also added that while tree planting is the easiest way to connect humans and nature, it can also be considered an “effective way to take care of the environment” as it can help lessen the effects of climate change.
