A 37-year-old man was found with stab and gunshot wounds at a rice field in Dumangas, Iloilo.

The dead body of the man, a certain “Elmer,” was found afternoon on April 21, 2026.

Msg. Efren Gonzaga, Jr., investigator at the Dumangas Police Station, said wounds were found on Elmer’s hands, feet, back, and face.

“Maliban sa sugat niya na nakitang visible sa kanyang kamay na parang na-stab, may mga sugat pa siya sa dalawa niyang paa, sa likuran, sa left lower eye at sa face na maaaring dulot ng gunshot,” Gonzaga said.

Elmer’s relatives in the town of Banate where he was living started wondering where he had gone after they found the tricycle he was driving abandoned by the road.

He was staying in Banate because he was reportedly watching over calamansi plants there.

Banate is about 28 kilometers away from Dumangas where his body was found.

Elmer mother, Neneng, said her son brought to their house the key to their e-bike dawn on April 21. When he left the house, about eight gunshots reportedly rang in the air but no one seemed to have minded these.

Now, Neneng is seeking justice.

“Ang gusto ko mabigyan ng hustisya ang ang nangyari sa anak ko. Masakit sir,” she said.

PERSON OF INTEREST

Authorities said they have identified a person of interest but this person has reportedly left the area.

Elmer’s family has learned of this person’s identity and agreed that he may be the suspect.

This man reportedly got mad at Elmer because the latter punched him the month before. The man even retaliated by damaging the e-bike of Elmer’s family.

The feud reportedly started when this person of interest kept calling out Elmer’s father and even pushed the man.

“Siyempre anak… ang ama niya itinulak… siyempre, ang anak, nag-react. Kaya ayun, sinuntok niya,” Elmer’s mother said.

Elmer’s family has decided to file charges against whoever will be identified as suspect in the killing.
