During an exclusive interview, the Descendants of the Sun PH star reflected on how women can celebrate womanhood despite the ongoing health crisis.

Reese said, “I think the best way to celebrate is to appreciate yourself and to thank yourself and to make yourself feel good.

“Because being a woman, whether you're a mother or not, there are some things that you are capable of that others, like men, are not--especially when it comes to being a mommy.

“You get to carry and feel the baby inside you for nine months. You get to nourish them with your body. So, that's something amazing naman.

“You can juggle a lot of things, e, not just being a mother. You can be a businesswoman, you can work, you can embrace your career…so, there's so much amazing things that a woman can do--and fun things that a woman can do, that others can't.”

The new mom also revealed who she considers as the female hero in her life.

“Siguro, my lola, 'yung maternal grandmother ko. Kasi sa kanya ako lumaki. As in since baby ako, sa kanya na ko. And she has six children, so plus ako na pinalaki niya, so seven kaming lahat.”

Reese also shared the things she admire most abour her maternal grandmother.

“She's the head of the family. She's the breadwinner of the family. So, how amazing is that 'di ba? Napagtapos niya lahat, naalagaan niya lahat. Tapos sinali pa ko. [Laughs]

“Even until now you'd still feel na 'yung parang sabik niya sa baby ko rin.

“So, parang ganun, [I admire] 'yung how hardworking she is… [and how] she didn't forget to be a mother also.”

When asked what quality of her lola she most like to emulate, Reese answered, “Probably 'yung pagiging brave niya.”

She added, “…'yung nagpe-persevere ka, hindi ka nag-gi-give up right away.

“Siya 'yung umangat sa 'ming lahat, parang ganun. I'd like to have that courage that she has, that braveness that she has.”

And this Women's Month, Reese wants to encourage women to stop and smell the roses, so they can better appreciate the blessings in their life.

“Well, just take it easy. Don't pressure yourself too much. Because if you do, you won't get to enjoy whatever you have right now.

“You won't get to enjoy your baby or your being a mother, or if you're pregnant, your pregnancy. So, just take it easy.”

She also gives advice on how women can navigate these uncertain times.

“Right now pandemic, we have to probably manage our expectations. We have to adjust to what we have right now and embrace the new normal.”
