By Racquel Quieta

Heart Evangelista is among the multi-hyphen Kapuso celebrities that many people look up to.

Not only is she admired for being a multi-talented artist and a style and beauty icon, but also for her philanthropic works and her admirable advocacies.

No wonder why she was chosen to headline Kotex Luxe's newest campaign “Love Yourself a Little More.”

Heart Evangelista talks about the importance of self-care for women amid the pandemic

GMANetwork.com recently had a chit-chat with Heart, where she talked about the importance of self-love for women and why Filipinas should love themselves more, especially during this challenging time.

Read on and be inspired by Heart's encouraging words.

Celebrating womanhood

At the beginning of the conversion, Heart reflected on her personal journey as a woman.

She said she has grown to appreciate herself more because of everything she has gone through in life.

“I love myself more today than I ever did because I am in love with the woman that I am today.”

She also shared that women's power lies in their inner strength and it is what makes her grateful and proud to be one.

“I am grateful to be a woman because the world challenges you, especially when there are a lot of people who put women down.

“You can do so much more as a woman. That by simply putting on a red lipstick is powerful. By presenting yourself to the world without even uttering a word is powerful.

"What more when you have a mouthful to say about something so important?”

“The power that a woman has is special because she's fragile, but she's strong. So, kumbaga, nasisindak sila doon.

“A woman can handle so much things all at the same time. And I'm not even talking about motherhood. That's another story.

Self-care amid the pandemic

Heart knows too well how stressful the current pandemic can be for women like herself who experience anxiety. So, she shared how she practices self-care amid the health crisis.

According to her, she makes time for meditation, reads devotional books, pauses in the morning, listens to Hillsong music and pray a lot.

Heart attests that these things give her peace and positively affects how she goes through her day.

“Self-care isn't just taking care of your skin.

"It really has so much to do with taking care of the inside, taking care of your heart--and of course skin care! Of course, that's part of it. (laughs)”

She also imparted a practical tip for women who are overwhelmed with responsibilities and worries during the quarantine period.

“Now that you have more time at home, you have more time to really pay attention to yourself.

“Just really make time in the morning (and) at night for yourself.

"Dedicate a time or a schedule of the day when you're not attending to your family. You have to put yourself also first.”

Why women should love themselves more

Women are known to mostly put their loved ones first before themselves.

That's why during difficult times such as now, there's a great tendency for Filipinas to forget about self-love in order to take care of other things in their lives.

So, Heart encourages all women to make self-care a priority during the pandemic.

“All of us, we go through so much with our personal life, with our careers, and then with this pandemic.

“Sometimes it feels impossible, but sometimes you just have to tap yourself on the back for all the hard work you're doing and done in the past.”

“You really have to feel good inside. You have to appreciate yourself and love yourself a little more.”
