Even with her success in showbiz, Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera says that she chose to take care of her family first over having to work and continue her career.
In an interview with Jessica Soho on Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho in the December 18 episode, Marian said that while it was hard for her to balance her career and family at first, she finally made the decision to focus on her family first.
“Malinaw sa'kin na family talaga ang priority ko which is my husband at tsaka yung dalawang anak ko. So as long as kailangan ako ng family ko, family muna,” she said.
She added that she had to focus and had to ask herself what is more important for her between her family and career which led her to make the decision.
“Pangarap ko po talaga maging nanay,” she said.
The actress admitted though that she felt regret to leave her career at first but that she knows she can always return to work, but her family takes priority.
In a separate interview, the actress admitted that it was the pandemic that made her realize the importance of putting her family as priority.
“We keep thinking about the future na hindi pala natin alam kung sa future na iyan nariyan pa sila o naandyan ka pa sa future na iyon. Better talaga na pahalagahan mo talaga 'yung mga taong nandyan para sa iyo, lalo na ang family mo,” she said.
While Marian makes sure that their kids are taken care of, she's also the one who disciplines them.
“Ako ang bad cop. Ako ang witch dito sa bahay,” she said.
However, she and her husband Dingdong Dantes have a deal that whenever she's mad at their kids, he has to support her.
“'Di pwedeng nagalit ako biglang 'Ok na yan, ako nang bahala sa mommy mo.' Hindi pwedeng ganun. So usapan namin, pag galit ako, 'Uy, mommy mo galit, hindi pwede.'"
Her mom, Amalia Rivera, expressed how proud she is of Marian for being there to raise her kids.
“Sa iba, nakikita ko sa yaya lumalaki, pero siya talagang hindi iniiwan,” she said.
Olympic Gold Medalist Hidilyn Diaz also shared her admiration of the celebrity mom when they met back in July, saying how hands-on and supportive Marian is of her daughter Zia.
