#FoodieAlert: Five must-try cookies by online sellers and SMEs
We all have our favorite cookie, but who would say no to one that has a homemade touch and freshly baked goodness?
For online sellers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), coming up with these yummy creations is a labor of love. Unlike their commercially manufactured counterparts, these types of cookies are produced in small batches yet each piece packs so much flavor.
Here are five must-try cookies being sold online that will satisfy your sweet tooth:
Chocolate, red velvet, and matcha crinkles, Armenia's Bakeshop
Armenia's Bakeshop has two stores in Pampanga, one in Guagua and another in San Fernando. Aside from their cakes and cheesecakes, the bakeshop also prides itself in their crinkles, which come in chocolate, red velvet, and matcha flavors.
"They have chewy sugar coated chocolate crinkles with soft cream cheese filling! Perfectly sweet, salty and sour concoction!" shares Angel Juarez of the travel blog The Lakwatsero, who just recently discovered Armenia's crinkles.
He adds, "Eat it like your favorite cream-filled cookies because the best part is the cream cheese filling that complements the sweet chocolatey taste. Trust me, you'll ask for more!"
Each container has 10 pieces, and priced at Php150 (chocolate), Php135 (red velvet), and Php155 (matcha).
Soft-baked cookies in a can, Two Bakers
Baking started as a hobby for Kayan Sy and her sister-in-law, and they eventually put up Two Bakers. "Using Instagram as our main platform, we grew our customer base by using high-quality ingredients, ensuring good customer service, and regularly introducing new flavors."
Their big break came when the popular food reviewer Masarap Ba? tasted their products. "With one single Instagram post declaring 'Oo' to the question 'Masarap ba?' Two Bakers was catapulted to the spotlight."
Their bestseller is the soft-baked cookies in a can (Php430), which come in six assorted flavors. They also sometimes offer customized cans at Php450. Other products you can order are classic butter cookies and 6 oz. cookies.
Chewy chocolate chunk cookies, Sweet Whisking
Sweet Whisking owner V-jet Topacio started her online business two years ago as a way to cope with a painful miscarriage. "After spending days crying and being depressed, my husband and I decided that I needed to do something I loved and enjoyed, as well as something we can do as a family. So I went back to baking!"
Among the products she baked, her chewy chocolate chunk cookies sold fast. "Officemates tasted it, loved it, and started ordering for Christmas, then for Valentine's Day. A few boxes became hundreds. Before we knew it, it was now a business."
Sweet Whisking's chewy chocolate chunk cookies are sold in boxes of 4 (Php200), 8 (Php320), and 12 (Php475), as well as in individual pouches.
Brown butter cookies, Cookies by Rosa
Named after the owners' favorite Facebook sticker Rosa the Pig, Cookies by Rosa is run by cookie-loving couple Kempt Peñaredondo and Louise Benal. Their bestseller is the brown butter cookie, and according to Kempt, it's their classic chocolate chip cookie with a twist.
"It is infused with Browned Butter to give it a twist; resulting to a nuttier aroma and bolder flavored cookie. It might look just the same with our Classic Chocolate Chip Cookie, but once you get a bite into it, you'll definitely spot the difference."
You can purchase the brown butter cookie from boxes of 3 (Php150) to 15 (Php640).
Tres chocolates cookies, Sweet Bratinella
"If you constantly crave for it, better if you bake it!" says Sweet Bratinella owner Ms. G. "The idea was just simple and nothing trivial: to bake not-so-sweet delights and to indulge the taste you should share with your loved ones."
Their bestseller, the tres chocolates cookies, are being sold at Php280 for a box of 6. These cookies are made with premium Belgian chocolates, European butter, along with the finest and freshest ingredients.
Ms. G adds, "You'll notice a hint of sea salt to even out the taste. No added preservatives and are made to order, so it is always served fresh."
