Richard Gomez cooks Visayan favorite pork humba in latest vlog

Actor and Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez returns for the third episode of his YouTube cooking series 'Goma at Home.'

Filming from the beautiful outdoor kitchen of his home in Ormoc, he tried cooking Visayan favorite pork humba.

"Humba is popularly known sa southern part of the Philippines. It's a Visayan dish pero 'pag kinomper mo sa Luzon dish, para siyang adobo na matamis. Meron siyang versions na 'yung iba nilalagyan ng pineapple and this one, nilalagyan siya ng black beans," he says as he introduces the dish.

Ingredients
1 kilo pork belly, cubed
1 white onion, diced
1 whole garlic, crushed
whole peppercorns
3 bay leaves
1 cup vinegar
1/2 cup of soy sauce
black beans
banana blossoms
2 tablespoons muscovado sugar
6 pieces star anise
pineapple juice
salt

Procedure
1. Brown the pork bell in a pot over high heat.
2. Add garlic, onions, whole peppercorns, bay leaves, vinegar, and soy sauce
3. Stir and let it boil for ten minutes
4. Add black beans and banana blossoms
5. Add muscovado sugar
6. Add star anise
7. Add pineapple juice
8. Mix and bring to a boil on low heat
9. Add salt to taste
10. Take off the heat when pork is tender
