4 Michelin Star restaurants in Manila that have resumed dine-in services

By Jansen Ramos

For those who have a discerning palate, we have good news for you.

Some Michelin-starred restaurants in the Philippines have started opening again, adapting to new rules of dining.

Just to give you a little background, Michelin Stars are a rating system used by the Michelin Guide to grade restaurants based on their quality. Restaurants may receive zero to three stars for the quality of their food based on five criteria: quality of the ingredients used, mastery of flavor and cooking techniques, the personality of the chef in his cuisine, value for money and consistency between visits.

Restaurant inspectors do not look at the interior decor, table setting, or service quality when awarding stars, meaning even a hawker stall or an eatery can receive such.

For your convenience, we've listed the four Michelin Star restaurants in the metro that you can now visit again for dine-in.

1. Tim Ho Wan

When it comes to a wide array of dim sum choices and baked pork buns, you can never go wrong with Tim Ho Wan.

Staying true to their #DEEliciouslySafe campaign, temperature reading, foot sanitation, and filling out health forms will be done prior to entry to ensure their customers and staff's health and safety.

The Chinese restaurant also has a digital menu and honors contactless payment to reduce the risk of the transmission of diseases.

2. Hawker Chan

When it comes to affordability and taste, Hawker Chan is on top of the list!

Not a fancy diner, but their two-dollar soya sauce chicken is considered one of the best in the world, dubbing it as the cheapest Michelin Star meal.

You can now have its world-famous roasted chicken at their SM Mall of Asia, Glorietta 3, SM North EDSA, SM San Lazaro, SM Fairview, Food District BGC, and Ayala Malls Manila Bay branches.

But just a heads up, foodies. The restaurant strictly imposes health protocols like No Mask No Entry policy, temperature checking, and social distancing when falling in line to order.

3. Tsuta Ramen

As things are slowly transitioning to the so-called 'new normal,' there are some dishes that you are longing to eat, and we're pretty sure that includes ramen.

Good thing that Tsuta, the first Michelin-starred ramen from Tokyo, opened its doors again for dine-in.

Just like other restaurants, it strictly implements No Mask No Entry policy, temperature checking, limited seating capacity, and social distancing.

The Japanese restaurant also has increased frequency in UV sanitation of dining areas, utensils, takeout/delivery items, and cash/card payments.

4. Kam's Roast

After a three-month-long lockdown, we deserve digging into tender roast meat, which Kam's Roast, a Michelin-starred eatery from Hong Kong, is known for.

Fortunately, it has landed in the Philippines and is located at the 3rd Level of SM Mega Fashion Hall.

But before entering the restaurant, take note of these safety reminders.

On the other hand, if you're feeling extra cautious, delivery and take-out services are offered by this restaurant.

Just because there's a pandemic, it doesn't mean that we can't eat good food. Have a safe dining experience!
