Richard Gomez stresses importance of good quality meat in bistek Tagalog recipe
Actor and politician Richard Gomez cooked another Filipino favorite in a new video for his online cooking series Goma at Home.
Bistek Tagalog is the star of his latest vlog which he once again shot in the beautiful outdoor kitchen of his home in Ormoc.
"Kaya Filipino favorite ito, ang daling lutiin. Ang daling i-assemble tapos, masarap kainin," he says.
As it is an easy dish, Richard stressed the importance of good quality ingredients, particularly the meat.
"It's important to get a good piece of meat. Cut it thinly and then quick cooking lang, siguro medium well and you're done," he adds.
Here's how to make Richard's bistek Tagalog.
Ingredients
- beef
- soy sauce
- pepper
- kalamansi
- white onion
- cooking oil
Procedure
- Slice beef thinly
- Marinate the beef in soy sauce and pepper for 5 minutes
- Slice onion into rings
- Cut kalamansi and squeeze juice into a small bowl
- Fry meat in a well-oiled pan in medium heat
- Set aside cooked meat in a plate
- Add water to leftover marinade
- Add to the pan where the meat was cooked and bring to a boil
- Add the onions
- Once onions cooked, place on top of meat and pour a bit of sauce over it
- Add kalamansi juice to sauce in the pan then pour over the meat
