Bright Side: Two Sushi Bake recipes from Kara David and Jelai Andres

Sushi Bake or baked sushi is a deconstructed sushi roll and it is one of the emerging food trends during quarantine.

California Maki Baked Sushi

Your social media feed is probably always flooded with photos of sushi bake that are either made or sold by your friends.

If you want to try making baked sushi yourself, then here are two recipes featured in Bright Side that you can try: California Maki Baked Sushi by Jelai Andres and Kani Baked Sushi by Kara David.

For the California Maki Baked Sushi, here are the ingredients you'll need:

  • Japanese mayonnaise
  • Nori wrapper (dried seaweeds)
  • Ebiko (shrimp eggs)
  • Kani (crab sticks)
  • Cream cheese
  • Ripe mango
  • Cucumber
  • Vinegar
  • Japanese Rice

Kani Baked Sushi

And as for the Kani Baked Sushi, you'll need the following:

  • Kani (crab sticks)
  • Wasabi paste
  • Eggs
  • ¼ cup minced onions
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Furikake/ Nori wrapper (dried seaweeds)
  • Japanese mayonnaise
  • Japanese rice

Kara suggests that if you don't have Japanese mayonnaise or Japanese rice, you can simply substitute them with regular mayonnaise and rice.
