By Marah Ruiz

To mark the release of Disney's live action adaptation of Mulan on its streaming service Disney+ on September 4, here is a recipe inspired by one of the scenes in the beloved original animated film.

Andrew Rea of Binging With Babish shared a congee recipe as seen in Mulan, as well as a leveled up version of the dish.

Here's how to make it.

Ingredients
water
long grain jasmine rice
bacon
quail eggs
cooking oil

Procedure
1. In a pot, combine 6 cups of water and 1 cup of rice
2. Bring to a simmer then partially cover and cook for an hour and a half
3. If the water evaporates, add a cup of water at a time
5. Fry some bacon
6. Shape into a curve while cooling in a paper towel
7. In the pan where the bacon was cooked, fry some quail eggs sunny side up
8. Serve congee in a bowl, topped with two eggs for eyes and a piece of bacon for the smile
