By Cara Emmeline Garcia

The battle between children and a plate of vegetables is as old as time.

Parents know the struggle of feeding their children vegetables, and while convincing them that eating greens are suitable for their health, kids are undeniably the No. 1 veggie loather.

The fact is: vegetables give your child energy, vitamins, antioxidants, fibre, and water. They help protect your kids against any forms of diseases later in life, including that of the coronavirus and other chronic illnesses.

And while you may know this, how do you convince your child otherwise?

Thankfully, mommy vlogger Chona and her daughter Holly is here to help you out with their special salted fish fried rice recipe that is sure to be a hit at your dining table.

Ingredients

  • 80-100g salted fried fish
  • Oil
  • 5 cloves of garlic
  • 80g mixed vegetables
  • 2 eggs
  • 500g rice
  • 2 tsp fish sauce
  • 1 ½ teaspoon seasoning powder
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 5 pcs cherry tomatoes
  • 1 tsp mayonnaise

Procedure

  1. Preheat your skillet by putting the burner to medium-high heat and pour oil into the bottom. Add the garlic and mixed vegetables. Fry this until they are tender.
  2. Slide the veggies and garlic to the side. Pour the beaten eggs onto the other side. Use a spatula to scramble the eggs and mix them with the veggies.
  3. Add the rice and combine the veggie and egg mixture in the skillet. Pour the fish sauce on top and stir until it is heated.
  4. Lastly, mix in the cherry tomatoes, mayonnaise, and place your salted fried fish.

Try this recipe out and see if this convinces your kid to incorporate more veggies into their diet.

If not, maybe Baby Holly can sway them as she said, “Kids, you gotta eat vegetables to make you strong and healthy!”
