Miles Ocampo talks about her cancer scare

Miles Ocampo, who admits being scared of hospitals, took courage and decided to have a check-up after she hadn't felt her normal self for a while already.

Symptoms

Miles then related the symptoms she was feeling back then. "Waking up in the middle of the night cause I can't breathe, I get tired so easily, sooooo frustrated with my weight gain, para akong palaging hapong-hapo and sinasakal."

Scared of needles

Even though she's afraid of needles, she went through what she felt like "endless blood tests, ultrasound to biopsy" before deciding to remove her thyroid glands.

Happened in an instant

With all the tests done, Miles and her family found out it was Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma and that she had to undergo Thyroidectomy surgery to remove them. The actress said the unfortunate events about her health "happened in an instant."

Gratitude

Miles expressed gratitude to everyone who was by her side, especially the doctors and nurses who were there. "Thank you for making me feel safe and for assuring me that i'll be back to my normal self."

Family

She also thanked her family for being there for her and for always checking on her. "Thank you for making sure I am not alone during those times, Mahal ko po kayo."

Elijah Canlas

Miles also gave thanks to her partner, Elijah Canlas or Luiz, for encouraging her to face her fears, something that she wouldn't be able to do without him. She also thanked Luiz's parents for accompanying her during her bloodwork.

Miles also extended her gratitude to her Crown Artist Management agency, the talent agency of her Dabarkads family Maja Salvador, for being with her and "for always messaging me to remind me that everything will be alright."

One month after her operation, Miles said that she has already "embraced her journey" and decided to share it with everyone to further inspire people who have gone through the same things she did.
