The Kapuso actor has been in show business for almost 50 years. We've seen him portray a lot of interesting characters, and most of them are usually Herculean.
Now, at the age of 66, how does Roi maintain a healthy lifestyle?
His secret is simple: workout.
“Since [time] immemorial, nagwo-workout ako. 'Di ko nakakalimutan. 'Pag 'di ako nagwo-workout, parang I feel sick.
"Para akong may sakit, may lagnat, or something. Parang akong na-addict sa workout,” said the veteran action star.
Roi enjoys martial arts from time to time, but he admits that weightlifting is his still favorite type of workout because it burns calories and fats. To top it off, he also makes sure to sleep early at night.
The Kapuso star, who will be part of Descendants of the Sun (The Philippine Adaptation), said he has been on this workout routine for 35 years already.
According to WebMD, “You lose muscle mass as you get older, and exercise can help you rebuild it. Muscles also burn more calories than fat, even at rest, which will offset your slowing metabolism. Exercise helps stop, delay, and sometimes improve serious illnesses like heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, arthritis, and osteoporosis.”
What prompted Roi to embark on a healthy lifestyle was when he needed to deviate himself from his smoking habits during his college days.
“Yung smoke, yung sigarilyo, bigla kong inalis dahil may nararamdaman ako sa heart ko.
“Tapos sabi ko, alisin ko kaya ito? Nawala naman bigla. Kaya kailangan, gusto kong malaman nila na ang smoke ay hindi maganda.”
Roi proves that age is not a hindrance to achieve goals. Whether it's sealing your name in the Walk of Fame or kicking off to a fit and healthy lifestyle, age is just a number.
Congratulations, Roi Vinzon!
