“We should be ready to arm and equip our own immune system. Palakasin natin 'yung ating resistensya.

"Kung malakas ang ating resistensya, may chance din that this would not result into fatality or mortality,” he said.

With that in mind, here are three essential tips from Pinoy MD to prevent being infected by the 2019-nCoV.

Eat healthy

The most basic way to improve the immune system is by eating healthy food.

According to Balburias, food that contain macronutrients like fatty acids and micronutrients such as zinc, magnesium, and Vitamin D are known to boost the immune system.

Taking supplements like 500mg of Vitamin C daily is also recommended.

Fruits that are red and orange in color are rich in flavonoids, a type of antioxidant that is also tested to strengthen the immune system.

Furthermore, keeping your throat moist by regularly drinking water can help you avoid to be prone to any virus transmissions.

Keep your hands clean

When washing your hands, remember to properly scrub your fingers for 20 seconds. To make counting more enjoyable, you can also sing the Happy Birthday Song twice.

In addition, make it a habit to use a hand sanitizer or alcohol.

More importantly, Pinoy MD reminds you to avoid unnecessary contact.

Wear a face mask

When going outside, it is recommended to use a face mask, especially in crowded places. This can be a good protection against the 2019-nCoV.

In wearing the surgical mask, place the earloops behind your ears without touching the surface of the mask. Then, adjust the bendable edge to the shape of your nose.

The white side should be the one touching your face because it is absorbent of saliva and other water particles. The colored side, however, should be on the outside since it is waterproof.

Disposing a surgical mask also has a meticulous process. Take it off by pulling the earloops and then fold it into half, with the colored surface inside.

Pinoy MD also gave a healthy recipe that can help improve your immune system.
