“These recent developments are significant, but we are prepared to respond to its potential consequences. Our priority is to protect our health workers and the most vulnerable populations,” Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said in a press release posted on DOH's official website.

As the COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc in the country, Filipinos need to be extra vigilant when it comes to protection while the vaccine is still under development.

In the meantime, the public can depend on the fact that the first patient confirmed to have the COVID-19 in the Philippines has finally recovered. This implies that the virus can be actually prevented, and perhaps also be cured.

Here are the safety measures against viruses according to Pinoy MD:

  • Refrain from using your hands as a cover for your mouth when coughing or sneezing
  • Exercise proper coughing etiquette
  • Exercise proper hand washing
  • Regularly use alcohol or hand sanitizer
  • Use disinfectant for your things

According to the Department of Health (DOH), people are not required to wear a face mask. This is unless he or she is sick or is a health worker who has direct contact with coronavirus patients.
