Actress Maxene Magalona and her husband Rob Mananquil have been living in Ubud in Bali, Indonesia for five months now amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

They got stranded in Indonesia when the pandemic caused flight cancellations worldwide to contain the transmission of the disease as promptly as possible in March.

In a post on Instagram, Maxene opened up that the “spiritual land” has helped her while in the process of mental and spiritual healing from her negative habits.

She wrote, “We've been in Ubud for five months now and I can honestly feel that this spiritual land has a very special energy to it.

“I noticed that at the beginning of our trip, so many of my flaws, unattractive traits and negative habits worsened. I came face to face with my inner demons and had no choice but to deal with them.”

She also revealed that her stay has given her the ample amount of time to acknowledge and embrace her weaknesses and fears.

“This is one of the reasons why healing can be a very painful and uncomfortable journey. You will have to see and acknowledge the dark shadows that you have been denying and running away from.

“Just as you celebrate the “good” that is in you, you must also embrace the parts of you that were rejected and unloved so that they can be transmuted into positive energy,” she added.

Maxene then shared that her healing was the fruit of her devotion and gratitude towards life.

“Thankfully, because I was faced with such dark and heavy energy, I began strengthening my connection to God through daily prayer and meditation. I began living my life with devotion. Every step is a step towards Him. Every word is enveloped with gratitude. Every breath is a prayer."

She then added that although a serene place is a great help for someone to take a step towards a gratifying healing, it is not a necessity if you are fully determined to connect to your true self.

“I also believe that it doesn't really matter where you are --you just have to connect to your true self so that you can feel God within your heart and soul. He will be the one to heal you. He will be your medicine."

Meanwhile, the tranquil time that she has spent on the island led to the actress' disclosure about her mental health and some of her personal struggles.

She recently revealed that she was diagnosed with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or C-PTSD and opened up about her feelings of uncertainty, anxiety, and fear that was brought about by her intense feeling of wanting to be in total control.

Maxene has promised herself to allow her feelings and gut instinct to control her rather than blindly follow what her mind tells her to do.

“This year, I made a promise to my heart that I would finally allow it to beat freely and happily. Instead of blindly following what my mind tells me to do like I usually do, I now take a moment to listen to my heart and follow my gut instinct and feelings,” she said.
