By Racquel Quieta

Jaymee Joaquin is among the many women battling breast cancer worldwide. But the former actress-TV host's approach to dealing with the big C is unconventional, unapologetic, and inspiring all at the same time.

For the month of October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Jaymee , who is a three-time cancer survivor, shares how she deals with the disease in a brave, unfiltered manner.

In one of her recent vlogs on her YouTube channel called Jaymee WINS, she bares her raw emotions and thoughts about battling breast cancer.

She begins the vlog by taking a jab at those pressuring her to wear pink by saying, “Is this pink enough?”

The pink ribbon is universally recognized as the symbol for breast cancer awareness efforts, and so whenever there are events or talks about the disease, people are usually inclined to wear pink. But obviously, not Jaymee.

She explains, “Do you think I like pink? Do you think I like celebrating cancer ? Why am I doing it, sounding like a hypocrite even if I really hate pink?

“I just wanna raise awareness to anybody who's watching to please be very vigilant with your breast health. That's all the best we can do right now, because apparently there's still no cure.”

She then went on to list the ways she deals with breast cancer, hoping to inspire other “pink sisters” or those who are fighting breast cancer.

1) Allowing herself to feel her feelings

Battling cancer is an emotional journey, and so Jaymee allows herself to feel and express whatever emotion she is feeling at a certain time. So, she sometimes cries like a baby, rants like a bulldog, or thinks out loud, instead of suppressing her emotions.

2) Perform like a superstar

According to Jaymee, going through cancer is very self-degrading. So, it helps her to do things that'll boost her ego and at the same time serve as fun distractions, such as singing or hosting a podcast.

3) Lets out her creative juices

Art therapy is also one helpful way to heal emotionally when battling breast cancer. So, Jamyee draws her feelings out and writes a book, and has also recently gotten into knitting.

4) Find comfort where she finds it

When battling cancer, it's important to surround yourself with things that bring you comfort. Like what Jaymee says, you should “find comfort where you can find it.” It can be from anything like pigging out, going for a walk, and pampering yourself.

5) Pray and meditate

Jaymee reveals that even though she curses a lot, she is actually spiritual and believes in a higher being. So, she prays a lot, and also meditates and does yoga stretches.

Jaymee ends her vlog with a very simple and straightforward wish: that none of her viewers ever gets cancer.

She says, “Thank you for watching my video and I hope that you stay vigilant with your health, and I hope that you never ever get cancer, because it is the sh*ttiest sh*t of all the sh*t.”
