Richard Yap's doctor feared for actor's life during COVID-19 ordeal

In his most recent vlog, Kapuso leading man Richard Yap gave a special shoutout to the doctors who took care of him after he contracted COVID-19.

He revealed that one of his friends served as his attending physician and three more doctors from the Makati Medical Center looked after him when he was at the hospital.

"I don't know how to thank them enough because they took such good care of me," he said.

Richard also admitted that his physician friend actually worried for his life during his COVID-19 ordeal.

He was hooked on high flow oxygen and judging from his x-rays, his lungs were getting worse.

"I didn't know it at that time, but my doctor told me that he was so worried that I wasn't going to make it. Kasi pa grabe nang pa grabe 'yung COVID ko," he recalled.

Fortunately, Richard was relatively healthy and lived an active lifestyle before he got the dreaded disease.

"Pero buti na lang, sabi nga niya, because I was healthy at that time, hindi ako umabot ng kailangan ma-intubate," he explained.

he also admitted that one of the hardest parts of getting sick with COVID-19 was the isolation.

"Ang hirap nitong sakit na ito because hindi ka nga pwedeng samahan ng family mo. You're all by yourself. You have to do everything by yourself," he said.

Aside from the excellent work of his doctors, he also credits his family's fervent prayers for his recovery.

"I found out that my family, my wife and kids, they were storming the heavens by praying for me each and every day. Nagro-rosary sila. They'd gather around and pray the rosary everyday para lang to ask our Lord to help us and to make me get well," he shared.

'Yun lang ang magagawa nila kasi hindi nila ko mapuntaan. I think that played a very big part in my getting well. Prayer is very powerful," Richard added.

He also hopes that no one has to go through what he did.

"I just hope and pray that you don't have to go through this kasi hindi biro talaga 'tong sakit na 'to," he said.
