Beauty Gonzalez opens up about her insecurities

By Nherz Almo

Beauty Gonzalez is among the local celebrities women look up to because of her look and confidence.

However, the celebrity mom admitted that she's like any lady who is also sometimes insecure and feels like having many flaws in her appearance.

Beauty confessed this during her recent guest appearance in an online show titled "Bare Your Beauty," which was sponsored by her newest endorsement Hakubi White C. She mentioned that there are times when she experiences anxiety that sometimes leads to panic attacks.

"Ang daming puwedeng triggers--it could be social media, minsan even our family, relatives and events. Minsan even positive comments like, when people start calling me beautiful, I actually think it's not true and I actually feel insecure. It's like psychological warfare, it's really not easy, it's an everyday thing you tackle. You are not aware that these feelings exist."

Beauty also mentioned that instead of feeling confident with the compliments she has been receiving, sometimes she feels the so-called "imposter syndrome."

According to healthline.com, "Imposter syndrome, also called perceived fraudulence, involves feelings of self-doubt and personal incompetence that persist despite your education, experience, and accomplishments."

Beauty further explained, "Sometimes you feel you don't belong where you are, you just got there because of pure luck. Lahat talaga umaatake sa 'yo. It's not easy indeed. You have to constantly be aware of those feelings, acknowledge and accept that such feelings are happening and that we also have the power to change those feelings into happy and positive ones."

In order to cope with this condition, the former I Can See You: AlterNate actress said she learned to love herself more.

She said, "What I do is spend more time with the people I love, the people that make me laugh hard."

"Think about the things you're grateful for. It's also important to celebrate your achievements. If you feel like it's parang insignificant, you should still celebrate all of your achievements even the smallest thing lang. Also, smile. I know it's hard but try to smile, try to dance, try to play your favorite song, hug people that you love, and keep busy, keep moving."

Beauty also stressed the importance of self-care, "For me talaga, you listen and talk to yourself like you would talk to a child. You handle yourself with care and be gentle with yourself. Slowly, you would feel na nag-disappear na 'yung insecurities mo."

She added, "It's a long process but it's worth it. First is to mentally prepare myself. To be open, it's the hardest part for me--to be open and to believe in the people who believe in me. I really try to be open, masyado akong perfectionist as an actress, e. So being open is hard and to think that everything else is noise--that one I really have to prepare. I try to convert to positive 'yung mga noise na 'yun."

Beauty said that these actions changed her perspective in general.

"It changed my world talaga. For me kasi, self-love is infectious. Nakakahawa talaga. People will naturally be drawn to you because they will also feel the love towards you. You also get to be more productive kasi ang gaan ng feeling mo. And when you're happy, the whole world changes on you. Iba na talaga yung paningin mo. You become more daring kapag masaya ka. If you just really believe in yourself, it will just glow," she concluded.
