Despite the challenging circumstances, the Olympic Games in Tokyo was a success. The same can be said about the Philippines' campaign, winning four medals in total including the elusive gold medal courtesy of weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz.
Inspired by these victories, Filipinos with artistic skills paid tribute to our valiant athletes by creating wonderful, creative artworks.
Here are some of these impressive artworks that have gone viral during the past weeks.
Mary Ann Yu Lao from Leyte did an impressive sketch of weightlifter and first Filipino Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz, who ended the country's 97-year gold medal drought.
The artist used graphite, charcoal, and water color to make the illustration.
Jerry Casaljay and Joneil Calagos Severino from Samar carved the image of boxer and Olympic silver medalist Nesthy Petencio on a badjang leaf.
Edimar Paclibar from Iloilo paid tribute to the Filipino Olympic athletes by making them his leaf carving models.
He used jackfruit leaves to bring his art concept into fruition.
Samar-based artist Ryan Managaysay made a portrait of Hidilyn Diaz using a salikupkop leaf.
John Ken Gomez, a 21-year-old fine arts student of Far Eastern University, made a charcoal portrait of Hidilyn.
The coolest part is that John's creation is now in Hidilyn's possession and adorns the Olympic gold winner's swanky P14-million condominium unit in Eastwood City.

This initiative follows the gin brand's tradition of occasionally releasing special bottle labels as substitute to its iconic image of St. Michael the Archangel subduing the devil, which was originally drawn by National Artist Fernando Amorsolo.
