WATCH: Michelle Dee shares her advocacy for kids with special needs

By Jansen Ramos

As she turned 24, Michelle Dee shares the passion project she has worked on for months in a video.

In partnership with Center for Possibilities, Inc., the Love You Two actress traveled to Sagada recently to fulfill her pledge: to help children with special needs.

The said video, which was released on her YouTube channel, does not only show what went on during her meaningful trip to the landlocked province, but it also shows a piece of her personal reflection as a mental health advocate.

"It's not enough for me to just sit by and hope things will get better for them.

'We need more people to ask better questions, we need more people to understand, but one day I know we'll get there."

This project is very close to Michelle's heart for she has two brothers who have a developmental disorder.

"Growing up with two autistic siblings was a far cry from "normal."

"Everyday was a struggle, every single day was a battle in my head between what was normal and what was normal for the world.

"I think about them all the time, their future, their well-being.

"I just want them to be okay," she said.

Moreover, Michelle appeals to people to show empathy and to have a deeper understanding of these kids' condition.

"It really is heartbreaking seeing how mistreated and misunderstood these kids could get and it really makes me question the cruelty in this world.

"What did they deserve to receive all this judgment?

"If only people can really understand how special these kids are, how talented, how sweet, just imagine how much better their lives could be."
