NASA astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley arrive at the International Space Station
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and SpaceX have successfully sent astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley to the International Space Station (ISS) on May 31, 1:22 p.m. EDT.
After a 19-hour journey, the two NASA astronauts have finally docked the Crew Dragon capsule and have joined the existing crew at the ISS.
The human spaceflight is historic because it is the first time that NASA astronauts flew to the ISS from American soil aboard a commercially built and operated American crew spacecraft.
SpaceX, the rocket company founded by tech billionaire Elon Musk, launched a Falcon 9 rocket with a Crew Dragon capsule atop, carrying the two NASA astronauts, last Saturday, May 30, during the 'Launch America' event.
The success of the historic spaceflight signals the commencement of the next phase in SpaceX and NASA's $2.6 billion contract, which involves six astronaut 'taxi' flights', with the first one likely to happen on late August of this year.
