Filipinos have found a new appreciation for cycling in the midst of the ongoing general community quarantine (GCQ) since there is not enough public transportation available.

And, this has lead to a dramatic increase in people purchasing bikes and cycling accessories.

In Sweden, there's a unique bicycle helmet, which is actually a cycling airbag. It is more popularly known as the “invisible” helmet since it remains hidden around your neck unless needed.

The “invisible” helmet contains accelerometers, which detect unusual movements that match movement patterns of a crash, then deploy the airbag hidden in its collar.

Swedish industrial designers Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin have invented the ingenious creation. However, both have left Hövding in 2015.

The product has passed safety tests conducted by the Standford University and Swedish insurance company Folksam.

However, French consumer group UFC-Que Choisir claims that “the helmet did not fully protect against impact with hard, narrow objects, such as curbstones or metal posts,” based on the test they've conducted.

As of writing, Hövding has yet to make the shipping of the “invisible” helmet available in the Philippines. They only mostly ship the product in Europe and Japan.LINK:

But just in case you're curious, or you plan to ask a friend or relative abroad to buy it for you, it's priced at 349 Euros, or around 20,000 Pesos in the Philippines.
