DIY lucky charms to try at home for 2021

Now that 2020 is over, it's time to attract some luck in this brand New Year.

The symbol for 2021 is the Metal Ox, which according to feng shui stands for healing and bouncing back from adversity.“

As long as we can be adaptable, na-a-adapt natin 'yung new norm at nagiging flexible po tayo, then malaki po 'yung chance na pwede rin po tayong maging successful sa panahon ng 2021,” feng shui consultant Johnson Chua said during a guesting at Unang Hirit.

And you don't have to spend a lot of money on good luck charms to welcome 2021.

There are practical, do it yourself (DIY) items that are readily available inside the house that you could use to attract good vibes according to feng shui.

Red envelopes

Johnson recommends writing your wishes on paper and stuffing them in nine red envelopes or ang pao.

“As much as possible positive yung request,” Johnson said.

Next is to stick all the envelopes behind the house's main door, arranging them in a diamond pattern.

“Diamond is a symbol of fire, and nine is the number of fire, so ini-increase po natin 'yung fire energy as one of the lucky elements for the year 2021, para more hope, more positivity and also for good blessings and prosperity.”

Rice and money (or any red paper)

Prepare a bowl of rice then put folded P50 bills, or any kind of red paper, on it.

“Kasi gusto rin natin 'yong red energy para to increase the fire energy and kasi alam natin 'yong bigas grasya 'yan para sa atin kasi wala naman tayong ibang nire-request kundi everyday magkaroon tayo ng pagkain sa ating hapag kainan,” Johnson explained.

For the plantitos and plantitas

“One of the lucky elements is wood element, so plants,” said Johnson.

“Kasi ang plants po nakakatulong siya to regulate also the metal energy. Kaya nga po nakakatuwa rin na ngayon 2020 maraming naging plantitos and plantitas becase the wood energy can totally refresh the air, cleans the air, tapos nakakatulong siya also for growth energy para sa tao.”

Johnson recommends tying a red ribbon or anything red on the stem or branch to attract good luck.

Since 2021 is the year of the Metal Ox, it would be ideal to hang pictures of the ox inside the house.

Choose an image that emits a positive vibe and something that matches your wishes for the entire year.

“For example, if we want a happy 2021, [put] a happy [image of an] ox. 'Pag gusto natin na medyo stable 'yong business natin, 'yong ox na maraming pera sa tabi,” Johnson elaborated.

Choose a preferred spot where you want to hang or put the image. If you're working from home, perhaps it best to position the image in your work area where you can see it often.
