LOOK: There's now an Optimus Prime toy that can transform by itself

By Bong Godinez

A Transformers robot that actually transforms is the stuff dreams are made of.

Thanks to robotics company, Robosen, Transformers fans with cash to spare can finally own an Optimus Prime toy that can shift from truck to robot and vice versa entirely on its own.

The wonder toy was unveiled in a recent Hasbro online event.

Hasbro is the US-based manufacturer of toys and action figures including Nerf, My Little Pony, Star Wars, and Transformers.

The Optimus Prime toy was a collaboration between Hasbro and Robosen.

The toy is designed with voice commands and can be connected to a customized mobile app.

What's even cooler is that the toy features the voice of Peter Cullen, the Canadian voice actor who gave life to the Optimus Prime character in the original Transformers animated series in the '80s.

As for its price, the toy reportedly carries a hefty price tag of $699.99 or almost P34,000.

The toy will be available in October and fans can pre-order on Hasbro's official website.

First introduced as a toy line in the early 1980s, The Transformers brand became huge after it was turned into an animated series by Marvel Productions, Sunbow Productions, and Japanese studio Toei Animation.

The series followed the story of warring giant robots - divided into Autobots and Decepticons - with the ability to transform into vehicles and other objects.

The heroic Autobots were led by Optimus Prime while the evil Decepticons looked up to Megatron as their leader.

The success of the series and the toy line made The Transformers a pop culture phenomenon.

It also inspired a movie franchise all directed by Michael Bay: Transformers (2007), Revenge of the Fallen (2009), Dark of the Moon (2011), Age of Extinction (2014), and The Last Knight (2017).
