Alodia Gosiengfiao secures funding from foreign investors for her esports company

By Bong Godinez

Gaming and esports entertainment company Tier One Entertainment has raised an undisclosed amount of new funds in its Pre-series A round of financing.

Leading the round was Gobi Partners through its Gobi-Core Philippine Fund, a joint-venture fund with Core Capital.

Joining them are the US-based entertainment and record label conglomerate Warner Music Group, Octava from Singapore, Japanese internet company Kayac Inc., and venture capital firm Atlas Ventures.

Tier One Entertainment was founded in 2017 by cosplayer and gamer Alodia Gosiengfiao, esports veteran Tryke Gutierrez, and entrepreneur Brian Lim.

It fashions itself as the first esports talent agency in Southeast Asia, helping gamers turn their passion into actual careers by providing them with platforms to showcase their skills and help connect them with brands.

The company plans to use the funding to hire back-end teams to assist talents, set up a content creation hub, and further expand operations in Asia.

Currently, Tier One Entertainment has presence in the Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar, and Malaysia.

“The gaming industry is going through a golden age and this funding will help accelerate our growth by allowing us to replicate our success in other markets. In just a few years of operations, we've found a winning formula in esports and gaming by developing a robust business model around top tier content creation and authentic distribution,” said Tryke, the company's chief executive officer.

Carlo Delantar, partner at Core Capital, commended the company for its vision and determination to make its mark in the thriving gaming industry.

“Tier One showed their resilience and agility through their meteoric rise in the industry. Not only did the team understand the complex space of esports and entertainment, Tier One continues to thrive by expanding its footprint across the region.”
