Miss World Philippines

The Miss World Philippines organization is extending its reach to different parts of the country.

Cebuanas looking to pursue their dream of becoming a beauty queen now have an opportunity to do so as the province of Cebu gains a local franchise for the Miss World Philippines pageant.

The Miss World Philippines organization announced on its official Instagram account that Cebu now has a local franchise holder in the form of Wilma Laude Zamora. In the caption to the post, the organization said that winners of the local Miss World Philippines franchise will become the province's official candidate for the Miss World Philippines pageant.

The Miss World Philippines organization first made the call for provincial directors and local franchise owners last month. The announcement was made on the organization's official Instagram account, with the caption noting that provincial directors will be tasked with handling the pageant's local franchise and help “empower more queens from different provinces”.

Last month also saw the announcement of MJV Mclelland as the local franchise holder for Miss World Philippines Western Visayas. As such, the representatives of the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental to the Miss World Philippines pageant will be picked from competitions organized by her.

This announcement, as well as the call for local franchise holders, comes after the announcement of the Pangasinan provincial government as the local franchise for Miss World Philippines. As the local franchise holder of Miss World Philippines, Limgas Na Pangasinan World will now be the one picking the province's representative for the Miss World Philippines pageant. The current Limgas Na Pangasinan titleholder, Nikhisa Buenafe Cheve, will be the province's official candidate for the upcoming Miss World Philippines pageant.

Competitors in these different local pageants are hoping to follow in the footsteps of current reigning Miss World Philippines Gwendolyne Fourniol, who is drumming up support for the advocacies she supports. Last month, she sent out a call for donations on her Instagram account by explaining her initiative, #BridgeTheGapBuildTheFuture. The initiative seeks to raise funds and provide resources for the ERDA Foundation, a non-government organization that was founded in 1974 and “envisions a nation where all children and youth have access to quality education and holistic development in a supportive environment for them to have a better life.”
