IN PHOTOS: Cherie Gil's 'unkontrabida' moments

No one wants to be slapped… not unless Cherie Gil is the one delivering the slap.
The veteran actress was in the news recently after young actress Ysabel Ortega revealed her desire to feel Cherie's palm land hard on her cheek.
It's worth noting, however, that Ysabel is not the only actress to go public about this wish.
Fellow Kapuso Barbie Forteza and Kyline Alcantara separately said that it would be an honor to be slapped by the multi-awarded actress.
We're pretty sure that many actors privately harbor the same sentiments, treating a painful slap from Cherie Gil as a badge of honor.
It is, of course, a testament to Cherie's brilliance as an actress that she could terrorize colleagues in every scene while still being regarded in high esteem.
“Noon, we wanted to slap each other. Palakasan pa kami ni Sharon [Cuneta],” Cherie said in a 2013 interview with entertainment journalist, Maridol Rañoa-Bismark.
“Stars are more fragile now. Their managers are more careful, so they put in stunt women to slap (actors). That bores me. If that's the case, bakit tayo manananampal?”
For someone who made a name slapping actors, Cherie said she's not a fan of expressing anger through any violent means.
“Puwede naman ipalabas ang lakas ng babae without resorting to that. Kahit anong lakas ng babae, kapag manakit ka at maging hysterical, cheap pa rin. Hindi na classy.”
Cherie is in a league of her own as a kontrabida, a superb actress who deserves all the admiration and accolades that come her way.
But there's also more to Cherie than just this iconic actress. Like most celebrities, Cherie is on social media - Instragram to be exact - where she gives fans a peek of her life and routine off the camera.
The images are a far cry from the spiteful villain that viewers often see on screen.
So with that said, here are just some of Cherie Gil's "unkontrabida" moments caught on cam.
