Binibining Pilipinas has just announced that 40 candidates who will vie for the prestigious crown this 2023, and one of them is Jessilen "Jessie" Salvador.
Sounds familiar? Yes, you may have heard her name a couple of times because her sister, actress-dancer and 'Eat Bulaga' Dabarkads Maja Salvador, has declared how proud she is of her younger sister in several interviews.
On February 5, Jessie teased about her inclusion in the Binibining Pilipinas 2023 Top 40 in an Instagram post, which she captioned, “a new journey awaits.” In the post, she added the hashtags #binibiningpilipinas and #submissionofapplication, announcing that she submitted an application for the prestigious pageant.
The following day, Binibining Pilipinas released the names of the candidates who made it to the top 40, which included the sister of dance princess Maja.

Jessilen Salvador, better known as Jessie, started her career when she joined a noontime show as a co-host in 2015.
She is the younger sister of 'Eat Bulaga' host and dancer Maja Salvador.
Jessie is also an actress and a model and joined Crown Artist Management, the entertainment artist management agency owned by her sister Maja.
Aside from hosting, Jessie is also an actress and appeared in movies such as 'Chainmail' starring Nadine Lustre, and a web film co-starring Guel Espina.
Like her sister, Jessie is also a dancer and has shown her moves and steps in a few TikTok videos.
On her Binibining Pilipinas journey, Jessie underwent training with Aces & Queens, the same company which produced Miss World 2013 Megan Young, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, and Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa.
In an interview with Hey Adam G, Jessie revealed that Maja was one of the people who pushed her to pageantry. The important advice she got from her, "'Wag kang panghinaan ng loob."
In the same interview, Jessie revealed that while she has always planned to join a pageant, she was always afraid and nervous if she could take on the competition. However, she declared that she's now "conquering my fear."
Aside from training with Aces & Queens, Jessie also made sure that she was fit and strong by doing pilates.
When asked why she chose to join Binibining Pilipinas, Jessie answered that for her, the pageant is more personal and connects to people more than other pageants.
