Why did Diva Montelaba give up her beauty queen dream?
The morena beauty has the makings of a beauty queen, but did you know she gave this dream up for her acting career?
Kapuso dancing diva Diva Montelaba was torn between two lovers, “There was this time I was supposed to join a certain national beauty pageant [but] I [was] doing [a] show that time. Siyempre if you decided to audition, you need to stop working on TV somehow.”
Since she needed to secure an audition for the beauty pageant, her loved ones were the ones urging her to join. The actress recalled, “Merong isang gabi na everybody was calling me, my handler, my mom, my friends, my gay friends, everybody was calling me [for my] decision that day.”
Even though it was her long-time dream, she decided to put it on hold. She told Mars, “I decided to just give it up first, my beauty pageant dream, and then just do my work muna kasi in the first place I’m here to do that passion which is acting. I finally said ‘no’ muna to being a beauty queen.”
There were also times she would regret her decision, “Sabi ko sa sarili ko, ‘Diva was that right? You’ve been dreaming to be on stage to have a crown on your head, but I love acting so bad.’ Sabi ko na lang kay Lord, ‘If this is for me, this is for me.’”
