By Racquel Quieta

Amid the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, there is growing concern over the safety of people living near hospitals and quarantine facilities such as the Dahlia Hotel in Oranbo, Pasig. So, Mayor Vico Sotto took to his social media accounts to assure his constituents that living near the quarantine facility is safe.

Mayor Vico knows that the fear of the people against the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) is valid. That's why he tried to appease their paranoia by explaining the importance of having a quarantine facility and why living near the area will not heighten their risk of getting COVID-19.

He then reiterated why they had to convert Dahlia Hotel into a quarantine facility: “Sa panahon ng krisis, ang kailangan, MABILISANG AKSYON.

On March 19, Mayor Vico announced that the Dahlia Hotel has been converted into a quarantine facility. It can reportedly hold at least 300 people at once.

Mayor Vico also revealed that the owners of Dahlia Hotel will let them use the establishment for free, and the Pasig City government will only have to pay for the electricity and water bills.

At that time, there were only 14 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pasig City. But, they wanted to be prepared, as experts have predicted that the numbers may soon rise. Hence, the hotel has been repurposed to have a designated place for persons under investigation (PUI) to stay in.
