Three Intramuros attractions officially reopen

The historic Walled City of Intramuros is reopening its doors to visitors after months of inactivity due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Intramuros Administration has announced that three attractions - Fort Santiago, Casa Manila Museum, and Baluarte de San Diego - will resume operations starting February 17.

The three mentioned spots will open at 2:00 p.m. with Fort Santiago closing at 8:00 p.m., and Casa Manila Museum and Baluarte de San Diego at 5:00 p.m.

Regular operating hours will start tomorrow, February 18, with Fort Santiago opening from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. daily, Casa Manila Museum from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday, and Baluarte de San Diego from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

Only visitors with ages 15 to 65 will be allowed entry to the mentioned establishments.

“Dungeons, Museo ni Rizal, and Asean Gardens, and other sites are not yet open,” the management said in a statement.

The announcement also mentioned strict compliance to standard health protocols such as the wearing of face masks, face shields, and social distancing at all times.

Cashless transactions through PayMaya are highly encouraged. However, cash transactions for entrance fees - P75 for adults and P50 for students and PWDs - are also accepted.

The Intramuros management is asking visitors to create a StaySafe.PH account for contact tracing purposes through personal QR codes.

The StaySafe.PH app is available on Google Play or App store.

In related news, the public mini library, Book Stop, will be up and running again, also today.

The pop-up library is located at Plaza Roma in Intramuros and was established to promote the love of reading and recycling of books. This initiative also gives people access to books.
