Museums under the National Museum of the Philippines to reopen starting on March 2

By Bong Godinez

Cultural and heritage sites are slowly reopening after almost a year of inactivity.

The Walled City of Intramuros, for example, has started welcoming visitors again with key attractions such as Fort Santiago, Casa Manila Museum, Baluarte de San Diego, and San Agustin Museum springing back to action.

Not to be outdone is the National Library of the Philippines, which last week reopened its reading room to bibliophiles who are looking for a quiet, even historical, place to catch up with their reading.

Now, the National Museum of the Philippines has announced its return and will reopen its central museums stationed within its complex in Rizal Park in Manila on March 2.

Guests can finally check out or revisit the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum of Anthropology, and the National Museum of Natural History.

Strict health and safety guidelines will be enforced in accordance with the government's COVID-19 regulations to protect the public.

These are the rules to follow when visiting the museums:

· Individuals aged 15 to 65 years are the only persons allowed to visit the National Museum of the Philippines.

· Each of the museums will accommodate one hundred people only per session.

· Maximum of five people per group.

· Guests are asked to reserve their spot at least one day before the visit. They can book online at the website: reservation.nationalmuseum.gov.ph. Confirmation of online reservations will be sent via email.

· Walk-in visitors without prior reservations will not be entertained.

· Visitors will be subjected to temperature scan and must fill up health declaration forms upon arrival.

· Face masks and face shields are a must and should be worn at all times inside the museums.

· Social distancing of at least two meters between guests must be followed.

· Guests can bring their own sanitizing kits such as small bottles of alcohol, small spray bottles, and tissue paper.

· Guided tours are prohibited.

· Elevators are reserved only for PWDs and senior citizens.
