Celebrity costumes and memorabilia to be auctioned for charity

By Racquel Quieta

Would you like to own the Wolverine jacket worn by Hugh Jackman in the movie 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' or that outfit Timothee Chalamet wore when he impersonated Harry Styles in NBC's 'Saturday Night Live' back in December?

It's actually possible through a fundraising auction called 'Stage & Screen' by Doyle Auctioneers & Appraisers for the benefit of The Actors Fund organization.

The COVID-19 pandemic may have hit the entertainment industry worldwide hard, but the silver lining is that it brought us the best in people, especially in terms of helping one another get through tough times.

A case in point is the charity auction happening on Wednesday, April 28, 10 a.m. (EST), where costumes and other pop culture memorabilia are up for bid to raise funds for The Actors Fund.

The said organization focused on extending help to people who work for the entertainment industry; not just actors, but also writers, producers, crew members, or anyone who works behind the scenes.

They provide services such as healthcare and affording housing for workers in the performing arts industry such as TV, film, and theater.

The said auction was organized by the 'Good Fight' actress Christine Baranski, who also donated items like an autographed 'Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again' script.

There are plenty of other more memorabilia included in the massive auction, such as dresses worn by legendary actresses Meryl Streep and Glenn Close and music icons Dolly Parton, Steve Martin, and Bruce Springsteen.

There's also reportedly a script from the original Broadway production of 'Cats.'

Moreover, there will be a separate collection for auction to benefit the Costume Industry Coalition, which aims to help New York City's custom costume industry survive in the midst of the pandemic.

Some of the items included in this separate collection are a pair of boots from 'Hamilton' signed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, a monkey music box from 'The Phantom of the Opera,' other costumes worn by Hugh Jackman, and tickets to 'Lion King' and 'Aladdin' for when Broadway finally reopens.
