New app follows Rabiya Mateo's Miss Universe journey

Anticipation is heating up for the 69th edition of the Miss Universe pageant happening on May 16 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, USA.

Representing the Philippines is Rabiya Mateo, who is hoping to replicate the success of Gloria Diaz (1969), Margarita Moran (1973), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), and Catriona Gray (2018).

Cheering Rabiya, of course, are Filipinos located from all around the world.

In line with this, the Miss Universe Philippines has launched a new app for fans to get the latest news and updates about Rabiya and her quest to win the crown.

The MUPH app is designed with various features to keep Rabiya's supporters and local pageant aficionados happy.

“We created an app that brings all the core features that we believe are interesting for the Filipino fans,” Kaius Meskanen, CEO of app developer company, Choicely, told members of the media during a video chat yesterday, May 5.

“You can read the latest news from the Miss Universe Philippines organization on a feed where you can basically jump into different news. You also have different specially designed reactions so you could react to most of the content inside the app.”

The interactive app also features video and gallery content containing up-to-date materials including backstage happenings.

It also comes with a merchandise section for those who wish to purchase souvenir items related to Miss Universe Philippines.

Fans can now watch a video documentary titled, Following Rabiya, exclusively on the app.

“I'm very much excited to let the Filipino community know what really happens behind the lens of the camera. It's like a reality TV show, can you imagine?” said Rabiya of the documentary and the app.

“People don't know the early call time, the late-night preparation, everything. It takes a village to grow a beauty queen and in this journey, we were able to present in the best way possible what it's like to be a Miss Universe Philippines.”

The MUPH is app is available on Android platforms and soon on iOS.
