Meghan Markle to publish her first children's book in June

By Racquel Quieta

We know Meghan Markle as the Duchess of Sussex, and also as a mother, wife, feminist and activist.

But soon she's going to add another feather to her cap as Meghan is set to become a published author.

The Duchess of Sussex may have been in the news a lot this year for very controversial reasons, but fortunately this time it's because of a piece of delightful news.

Meghan has written her first-ever children's book titled 'The Bench,' which is inspired by the father and son bond of her husband Prince Harry and their firstborn Archie.

In the official website of Prince Harry and Meghan's foundation, Archewell, Meghan's debut was described as a story “about the special bond between father and son as told through a mother's eyes.”

The Duchess collaborated with illustrator Christian Robinson, who worked with watercolor for the first time to create visuals that complemented the words written by Meghan.

“The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father's Day, the month after Archie was born,” The Duchess said in a statement. “That poem became this story.

“Christian layered in beautiful and ethereal watercolor illustrations that capture the warmth, joy, and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of life; this representation was particularly important to me, and Christian and I worked closely to depict this special bond through an inclusive lens.

“My hope is that The Bench resonates with every family, no matter the makeup, as much as it does with mine.”

Meghan's children's book will be published by Random House Children's Books in the United States.

It will also be simultaneously published by Tundra Books, an imprint of Penguin Random House Canada, and Puffin, an imprint of Penguin Random House Children's UK in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, India, and South Africa.

'The Bench' will also be available in eBook form in Amazon Kindle, B&N Nook, Apple Books, Google Play and Kobo.

Plus, there's also an audiobook version, which will be read by Meghan herself.

'The Bench' is now available for pre-order at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books A Million, Bookshop.org, Hudson Booksellers, Walmart, Target, IndieBound, and Powell's.

Its official release date is on June 8, 2021, which many suspects to be around the time of her second child's due date.
