Beatrice Luigi Gomez

Miss Universe Philippines Beatrice Luigi Gomez's call comes after the earlier initiative launched by the Miss Universe Philippines Organization.

Miss Universe Philippines Beatrice Luigi Gomez is using her platform for good as she continues to work for the recovery and rehabilitation of areas ravaged by Typhoon Odette.

In the latest post on her Instagram account, Beatrice shared six photos from the independent child organization Save the Children showing the destruction left behind by the typhoon which include collapsed houses and trees as well as flooded streets.

In her caption for the post, Beatrice shared that of the 13 million Filipinos affected by Typhoon Odette, four million are children, with each passing day adding to the numbers.

The beauty queen also pointed out that aside from lack of access to food, shelter, water, sanitation, and hygiene, children and their caregivers are also suffering psychological distress brought about by the effects of the typhoon. She then called on her followers and the companies they work for to donate to Save the Children's relief efforts.

The Miss Universe Organization had earlier launched a relief initiative in partnership with Sendwave, a remittance app that the organization recently partnered with. The organization will be matching any donations made using the remittance app.

The destruction left behind by Typhoon Odette hits especially close to home for Beatrice, as her family was trapped in their home as the typhoon battered Cebu.

Aside from Save the Children and the Miss Universe Organization, Beatrice had also called on her followers to assist the Simply Share Foundation and the Naval Reserve Center of Eastern Visayas with the recovery efforts.

Earlier, Miss World Philippines 2021 Tracy Maureen Perez shared the Miss World Philippines Organization's relief initiative on her Instagram account. Andi Eigenmann also updated her followers about what was happening in Siargao as the typhoon began to hit it.
