Kapuso actress Carla Abellana recently expressed her dismay, on her Instagram feed, over people catching, killing, and eating what is supposed to be man's best friend, dog.
The self-proclaimed animal welfare advocate captions in a reposted post from nonprofit organization, Animal Kingdom Foundation, “ITIGIL NA ANG PAGHULI, PAGKATAY, PAGLUTO AT PAG KAIN NG MGA ASO! Iligal po ito at ito po ay isang KRIMEN.”
The post was accompanied by a story of Calvin, a dog who was rescued by the organization. The story reads, “Like in any other dog meat trade raid, there is always one or two dogs who are most critical. Today's raid in Pampanga is no different. This is Calvin, estimated to be Four(4) or Five (5) months old only, one of the Six live dogs we rescued earlier today.”
“Calvin suffered most, as seen in our photos. He was out of breath, soaking wet and overheating when taken out of the sack. He would have suffocated and died in the next few minutes if we came in a few minutes late. He was hooked up on IV and oxygen immediately and we are praying that he recovers,” the post continues.
“Imagine if Calvin was your beloved pet. How would you feel? Imagine his trauma, his pain and his suffering. Please, let us condemn this horrible act. We need you to help us bust these dog meat traders so no more Calvins will fall victims to these evil deeds.”
Carla has been vocal about her cause as she's been posting and reposting numerous stories of dogs from various pet organizations on her IG feed. Whether it's a dog being abused, lost, or in dire need of a home, she's always using her platform to inform her friends, family, and followers of this cause.
