Miss Universe Philippines winners advocate for menstrual health

By Ron Lim

The winning queens of the Miss Universe Philippines 2022 pageant continue to do advocacy work even as the Miss Universe 2022 pageant draws closer for Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi.

In a recent post on the Miss Universe Philippines Instagram account, the organization shared several pictures of Celeste with Miss Universe Philippines 2022 1st Runner-up Annabelle Mcdonnell as they took part in an outreach program with students at the San Antonio High School. The beauty queens were there to talk about menstrual health with the female students of the school.

This is the latest advocacy work that Celeste Cortesi in particular has participated in as she prepares for the upcoming Miss Universe 2022 pageant next year.

Last month, she went to Lanao del Norte along with the non-profit organization Save the Children Philippines as part of their Life Changer for Children program. Aside from Annabelle Mcdonnell, Celeste was also accompanied by Miss Universe Philippines Charity Pauline Amelinckx in Lanao del Norte.

Reflecting on her time there, Celeste shared that her involvement in advocacy work as part of her duties as a beauty queen helped her realize the importance of sharing her blessings with others and giving more than she is receiving. Celeste also said that her time spent with the Lanao del Norte communities reminded her of the importance of doing one's part to make a change.

In October, Celeste repackaged relief goods to “truly kickstart the holiday season” for families affected by a fire in Sampaloc, Manila.

Celeste also commemorated World Mental Health Day on her Instagram account by calling for kindness when it comes to people experiencing mental health issues.
