According to Carla, it's not love at first sight for her and Tom as they have worked together on several projects before they fell in love with each other.

After months of being silent, Carla Abellana finally spoke about her breakup with Tom Rodriguez. In a now deleted comment on YouTube, Carla said she was "disrespected, betrayed, lied to, used, shamed, and made to look so stupid."
In the same comment, Carla said she gave Tom, "Tunay na pagmamahal, respeto, pag-aalaga, pag-aaruga, pag-unawa, pagtitiis, sangkatutak na pagpapatawad, milya-milyang pasensya, paniniwala, pagtiwala, pag-aasikaso, pag protekta."

Tom has been staying in the United States since March 2022, when he realized that "despite all my efforts, Carla had already given up on our marriage."
The 34-year-old actor also said that he already accepted Carla's decision. "I have to teach myself how to fall out of love from her. This will be a lonely, painful path that I shall take, but together with my family here in the US, I have the strongest support system."
