Iya Villania and Drew Arellano share the secret to their happy relationship

Iya Villania and Drew Arellano are considered as one of the most admired celebrity couples. The two were together for 10 years as boyfriend and girlfriend before eventually tying the knot to build their own family.

Now, Iya and Drew have been together for seven years as husband and wife (17 years in total) and they have three adorable kids.

In the Skypodcast of Slater Young and Kryz Uy, the two discussed the secret to their happy relationship.

According to Iya, they give credit to the 10 years they had as boyfriend and girlfriend, which solidified their relationship.

"'Yung foundation kasi namin we were together for pretty much 10 years before we got married. I think with that we built a pretty strong foundation."

She admitted, however, it was not all happy moments but it was what made them who they are as a couple.

"It wasn't easy, 10 years but because we made it through that and we reached the point that we were just so sure that we wanted to grow old with each other."

Drew agreed with Iya and defined their relationship as "calloused."

He said, "I feel it's the calloused kind, but 'yung not makapal and not sobrang the wounds are too deep. It was the okay buti na lang we made it through this. We need the rough roads."

Iya continued, "To appreciate what we have."

Raising three young kids Primo, Leon, and Alana, Slater and Kryz asked how Iya and Drew find time for one another.

Drew admitted that it is really the father who usually takies the back seat when the kids enter the lives of a couple.

"There will be a point in time the focus will be hundred percent on the kids, right? Parang the father medyo takes a back seat.

He added, Iya is always checking on him too.

"She actually said na parang hey I'm sorry baka naman you're feeling ano."

According to Drew, he understands the situation. Drew disclosed how much he loves Iya as a companion and as someone who will spend his life with.

"I know naman parang it was more about being lovers and whatnot. 'Yung mindset ko is when we get old, 'di ba we will be frail and whatever. I am gonna love you as a companion, as like my travel buddy, and then magkukuwentuhan lang tayo somewhere watching the sunset and whatever and then sipping tea or whatever.
