It's been a little over a week since Tom Rodriguez and Carla Abellana got married, and the newlyweds are now sharing some behind-the-scenes stories in an exclusive interview with GMA News.

The To Have And To Hold star and The World Between Us actor say down for a 20-minute interview that all the things that went into making their dream wedding a possibility.

According to Carla, it was especially difficult planning a pandemic wedding, taking into consideration that they had to take extra precautions and follow protocols.

In fact, one of those protocols necessitated a change of venue for the couple less than a month before the ceremony.

“Where we were supposed to hold it, when I was in lock-in, biglaang hindi na allowed 'yung weddings,” recalled Tom.

“Three weeks before the wedding we had to change the venue. Doon kami napunta kasi 'yun 'yung nahanap namin na may availability,” added Carla. “Doon” being the San Juan Nepomuceno Parish in Batangas -- a different location from their initially-planned Tagaytay one.

With the pandemic still ongoing and with their guests having to travel so far to attend, Carla and Tom said that they made every effort to make the ceremony as convenient as possible for the guests.

PCR tests were required not just for safety but also for the peace of mind of the guests, and Carla insisted on not having a motif for her wedding, assuring her guests they could wear “any polo or shade.”

“Black and white lang sa bridesmaids and groomsmen okay na kami. Kahit yung ninongs and ninangs hindi na namin ni-require mag-black and white pero sila na rin nag-insist,” she shared.

Aside from being a milestone for their relationship, the marriage was also something anticipated by fans of the couple, something that both Carla and Tom deeply appreciated.

“Happy kami na the fans are happy kasi palagi kong sinasabi kay Tom na part sila ng buhay namin at story namin. Kahit papaano nagkaroon ng happiness,” explained Carla.

Now a week into their married life, both Carla and Tom are planning on the future, starting with building a house and planning for a baby. A honeymoon, however, is not in the cards yet, as the two still have work commitments.

Next year, however, is another story. They said that they've approached the management about some time off so that they can finally have a honeymoon.

“Next year ang honeymoon. Sana out of the country kasi ang tagal na rin naming hindi nag-travel together. Maganda rin to go away,” shared Carla.
