EXCLUSIVE: David Licauco on his Jomalig adventure, 'I enjoyed it a lot'

GMA News and Public Affairs aired Summer Squad Goals last May 19 and featured our favorite Kapuso stars David Licauco, Kiray Celis, Ken Chan and Rita Daniela. They joined a few travelers called “joiners” for a fun-filled summer adventure.

In fact, the show was such a hit that it trended on the Twitter Philippines and had fans gushing about Kapuso hunk David Licauco.

In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com last May 22, the Kapuso actor shared his thoughts on his Jomalig Island getaway.

He recalled, “Sobrang great experience siya for me. And wala rin masyadong signal so I enjoyed it a lot.

“When I'm not using my phone, I'm more productive. I appreciate talking to people, seeing the culture, appreciating the beach and nature. And I slept in a kubo and marami akong na-meet na iba't ibang klaseng tao.”

The first time joiner admitted that it was a huge step out of his comfort zone since he is a self-proclaimed introvert.

“Medyo introverted kasi ako and 'yung mga joiners talaga iba-iba kayo eh at hindi kayo magkakakilala. So doing that was really such a big step for me.”

During the trip, David was able to meet a few people outside his circle that made him realize that his problems were so little than what other people are actually going through.

“Marami akong natutunan sa kanila. We took the time to appreciate and experience the good side of nature. And then I realized na parang, 'Wow, ang liit lang pala ng problema ko.'

“Kasi parang lahat sila mas malaki pa ang problema kaysa sa akin.”

So, will the 23-year-old actor join a few joiner trips in the future?

He answers, “Siguro magdadala lang ako ng isang friend. Medyo na-op lang kasi ako.

“Tinry ko din naman 'yung best ko and in fairness naman sa kanila, tina-try din naman nila akong kausapin. Pero mas prefer kong magsama ng isang friend pero I'd do it again for sure.”
