Non-essential travel abroad for Filipinos is finally allowed

The travel ban for non-essential trips abroad for Filipinos had just been lifted, but there will be requirements for those who wish to travel, and there are only a limited number of countries that Pinoys can visit during the pandemic.

Below are the requirements that Filipino travelers must meet before they can be allowed to travel abroad:

1. Confirmed round-trip tickets for those with tourist visas
2. Travel health insurance, which will cover rebooking and accommodation fees, in case the traveler contracts COVID-19 while traveling
3. Country of destination does not ban Filipinos from entering
4. Signing a declaration that you are aware of and accept the risks involved in traveling
In addition to these, upon returning from their trips abroad, Filipino travelers will now be required to take a COVID-19 swab test, and undergo quarantine until they test negative.

And as of writing, these are the countries that currently don't have travel ban on Filipinos:

1. Antigua and Barbuda
2. Bahamas
3. Mexico
4. U.S.A.
5. Bangladesh
6. Cambodia
7. Malaysia
8. Maldives
9. Micronesia
10. Mongolia
11. Nauru
12. New Zealand
13. Papua New Guinea
14. Republic of Korea
15. Singapore
16. Andoraa
17. Azerbaijan
18. Belarus
19. Montenegro
20. Serbia
21. Turkey
22. Ukraine
23. Egypt
24. Eswatini
25. Ethiopia
26. Iran
27. Lesotho
28. Mozambique
29. U.A.E
30. Zambia

In a 24 Oras interview, Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año cleared that although Filipinos are now allowed to travel abroad, the Philippines still has a travel ban on foreigners.

So, if you're planning a trip anytime soon, just make sure to accomplish all the requirements and double-check if the country you'll be heading to still doesn't have a travel ban on Filipinos.
