Practical tips for your next land travel

By Dianara Alegre

To those who are struggling to figure out how to enjoy “new normal” travels with the world still under the pandemic, you must plan your adventures as simple as possible.

And the first trick to achieve that easy ride is to know what to pack for your travel. Here are some tips for your worry-free next land travel journey:

1. Have a list!

It's too easy to forget items you need that's why you need to make a packing list to keep yourself organized. Make sure to double-check the list.

2. Single carry-on bag

Stick to a single carry-on bag as much as possible. Duffel bags and backpacks are more convenient for stowing between confined spaces in your vehicle seats. It's always nice to have a bag that's easy to access.

3. Pack foldable bags into your suitcase

Take a light backpack or a sling bag for your activities outside your hotel room. You're going to want to shop so bring a foldable bag. It won't take up much space as it folds into a small pouch but it should be able to withstand the weight of multiple items without ripping.

4. Use packing cubes

Packing cubes not only help you stay organized but also save loads of space in your suitcase/backpack. Sorting your belongings in separately labeled organizers will save you from trouble.

5. Lightweight versions of travel essentials

You can pack smaller sizes of your shampoo and conditioner bottles, as well as lotions and perfumes. Avoid bringing heavy things when there are lighter, travel-size substitutes available.

6. Pre-plan OOTDs, face masks & face shields

You don't need to bring all of your clothes to your travel destination so it is wise to pre-plan your outfits ahead. And we mean, your everyday OOTD during your stay. It is also advisable to bring lightweight clothing that can be layered. Do not forget to bring extra masks and face shields.

7. First aid kit

It is necessary to bring a first aid kit whenever you travel. The kit must include alcohol or hand sanitizer, pain and fever relievers, cold medicines and throat lozenges, diarrhea/laxative medicines, allergy medicines, multivitamins, eye drops, motion sickness pills, and insect repellent or mosquito sting reliever at least.

8. Separate your liquids from your goods

It's important to separate liquids from your goods and clothes because you never know when bottles will spontaneously explode or leak.

Lastly, always remember to observe health safety protocols when traveling, especially now that the public's health is still at risk due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
