Christine Li reacts to rumor linking her to Chavit Singson: 'You got the wrong girl'

“Minsan na lang nga ako mabalita ganito pa!”
Christine Li laughed off a rumor linking her to businessman-politician Chavit Singson.
In a four-minute video, the actress denied that she was the girl on a viral video holding hands with Singson.
She also called out a news report that used her photo to allegedly identify the “mystery girl” of Chavit.
“That's me on the upper right corner of the photo,” Christine said.
She quickly added: “You got the wrong girl.
“That's not me on the video but they're claiming that I am the girlfriend of Chavit Singson.
I have never met Chavit Singson in my life.”
In connection to this issue, Christine sought help from Chavit's son, whom she personally know.
Based on their exchange of private messages, which she showed in the video, Chavit's son apologized to her and said, “Nadamay ka pa.”
She also stressed, “So I'm just a victim here. Victim na po ako ng fake news.”
On the same post, Christine reminded the public to be more discerning about what they see online.
She explained, “Huwag tayong nagpapaniwala sa mga nakikita natin online. It could hurt somebody's reputation. It could hurt their career. It could hurt their mental health. So, please stop spreading misinformation about people.
“Kasi not everything that you see on the internet is real, okay? Some people are just making up sh** to earn money from them. To milk money out of people. Out of innocent people.
“I'm not guilty of this but I don't wanna go out in public right now and people are gonna start laughing at me. People are gonna start talking sh** behind my back. Talking sh** in my face.
Because of what they've seen on the internet.
“And I can't even defend myself. Because it's been posted anonymously. It's so unfair, you guys. So let's be responsible.”
Chrstine also urges people to “bring back the positive of social media.”
“It used to be this platform where we can endorse and can build our businesses. Where we can connect and find communities here. It's getting toxic that we all have to talk about is chismis. Ka-cheap-an!
“Nakakafrustrate lang po na palagi na lang chismis ba? Hindi na ba tayo pwedeng magtulungan? Makapaghanap ng opportunities para sa isa't isa? It used to be like that, eh.
Wala ng substance. And innocent people are getting hurt. It could potentially ruin their relationships. It could potentially hurt their personal lives or their mental health. So let's stop spreading fake news and misinformation about people.”
To further clear her name on this issue, Christine has also reached out to her management and talked to a lawyer.
At the end of her video, she reiterated, “Let's stop this. Let's be responsible and let's fact-check. Ugaliin natin mag-fact-check before tayong mag-repost na kung ano-ano.”
