Pop star Britney Spears announced that she's having a baby, months after she was released from a conservatorship.

Britney's 13-year conservatorship was terminated in November 2021. The legal arrangement prevented the singer from managing her own finances, having custody of her two sons, among other restrictions.

The 40-year-old celebrity also claimed she was required to be on birth control.

On April 12, Britney's official Instagram account showed a new post from the singer suggesting that she's expecting her third child.

Britney said she had taken a pregnancy test after she noticed a change in her weight. She had previously mentioned on numerous occasions that she "wants a family" with her fitness coach-model partner Sam Asghari.

She wrote in her Instagram caption, "So I got a pregnancy test…and uhhhhh well…I am having a baby."

The singer also opened up about battling perinatal depression in her past pregnancies.

"It's hard because when I was pregnant I had perinatal depression…I have to say it is absolutely horrible…women didn't talk about it back then…some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her…but now women talk about it every day…thank Jesus we don't have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret. This time I will be doing yoga every day! Spreading lots of joy and love!"

In December 2021, Britney confessed she's not yet ready to return to making music.

A report from The Sun in March 2022 said the pop star's team is "putting feelers out about the prospect of new music" and planning a music comeback.

Britney's most previous live performance is from October 2018.

Her last full album release was Glory in 2016 followed by a release of its deluxe album edition in 2020.
